In Japan, New Yews Eve’s worst-night celebrations drives foreigners crazy because their Japanese families gather around the TV to watch phony pre-packaged boy and girl bands in NHK TV’s New Year’s Kohaku pr(Year-end Song Festiva”) program.

When I worked at Hitachi, the kadomatsu decorations for New Years were put out on the 23rd or 24th since the 28th was the last day of work.

Every year I would pop into the shacho/president’s office to thank them for the Christmas trees just for me, hee, hee.
